| WHO WE ARE
Bruce Bortz combines thirty years of journalistic experience
and a decade and one-half of book publishing experience with
specialties and interests in nonfiction, and fiction, and
a passion for the business that can’t be measured. He
is a classic generalist with insatiable curiosity and incomparable
backgrounds in writing, editing, and publishing.
Bruce Bortz received his undergraduate degree in political
science from Johns Hopkins University, his masters in broadcast
journalism from Boston University, and his law degree from
the University of Maryland. In 1992, he followed his long-standing
dream and started his own publishing house, Bancroft Press,
long considered one of the top 100 independent presses in
the country, and one of the few that regularly publishes fiction
as well as nonfiction.
He wears every hat in the publishing business, trading back
and forth as duty requires. From manuscript acquisitions to
contract negotiations to editing to marketing, he handles
everything, and has done so for the nearly 40 books on the
Bancroft title list.
In 2004, he decided to offer his editorial services to more
than just Bancroft Press authors and formed Bancroft Editorial.
The decision to take on more editing jobs was a simple one
to make: do what you love, do what you’re good at, and
do lots of it. |
